1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of tradeson.co.uk and any services provided by Trades On, a sole trader based in Edinburgh, Scotland. By subscribing to or using our services, you agree to these terms in full.

2. Our service

Trades On provides website design and management services for tradesmen and small businesses, delivered on a subscription basis. Your subscription includes an initial website build plus ongoing hosting, maintenance, and updates as agreed at sign-up.

The specific scope, deliverables, and any package details will be confirmed with you in writing — including via WhatsApp or email — before your subscription begins.

3. Fees & billing

Our pricing has two elements:

• Setup fee — a one-off payment charged at the time of sign-up, covering the initial website build and onboarding. The setup fee is non-refundable once work has commenced.
• Monthly subscription fee — charged in advance on the same date each month as your original sign-up date (your billing date), processed via Stripe.

All fees are as stated at the time of purchase. We will give you at least 30 days' written notice of any price changes before they take effect.

4. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time, for any reason — no questions asked.

To cancel, email hello@tradeson.co.uk with your name and a clear instruction to cancel. We will confirm cancellation within 2 working days.

How billing works when you cancel: your subscription runs in complete monthly billing cycles. You are charged for the full billing month in which your cancellation falls — there are no partial-month refunds. Your service continues until the end of that paid period and no further payments are taken after that.

Cancellation of the monthly subscription does not entitle you to a refund of the setup fee.

5. 14-day cooling-off period

As a consumer entering a contract online, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of sign-up for a full refund, in accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

If you request that work begins within the 14-day cooling-off period — for example by approving your brief, supplying content, or confirming you want the site built immediately — you acknowledge that your right to a full refund may be reduced in proportion to the work already completed at the point of cancellation.

To exercise your cooling-off right, notify us at hello@tradeson.co.uk within 14 days of sign-up.

6. Domain name

Your website needs a domain — an address like joesbrickwork.co.uk that belongs to you, not a random subdomain or something tied to us. That address is yours 100%, from day one.

If you don't have a domain yet, we'll register one for you as part of the setup at no extra cost. After the first year, the annual renewal fee (typically £10–15/year) is paid directly by you to the registrar. We'll set things up so the registrar contacts you directly — the relationship is between you and them, not through us.

If you already have a domain, we can connect it to your new site and help with any redirects needed. Either way, Trades On only facilitates the process. We hold no responsibility for domain registration, renewal, expiry, or any issues arising from the registrar's service. The domain belongs to you and is your responsibility to renew each year.

7. Delivery timeline

Your website will be built and live within 48 hours — but that clock starts from the moment we have everything we need from you. We can't build something from thin air.

What we need before we can start:

• Photos of your work (before & after where possible)
• Your confirmed web address
• A few words about your trade and the areas you cover
• Any logo, van photo, or existing branding you want us to work with

In practice, delays almost always come from the content side — a photo sent one day, a web address still undecided two days later. That's completely fine, but it moves the timeline. We'll always tell you exactly where things stand via WhatsApp and won't leave you guessing.

8. Van QR code stickers

Included in your setup fee is a set of vinyl QR code stickers for your van. Once your site is live and your web address is confirmed, we design, cut, and post them to you — no extra charge. This applies to both the monthly plan and the one-off build.

Standard size is 20×20cm, supplied in black or white. You receive one sticker for each side of the van. A back-window sticker is also available but only if you specifically request it — otherwise two stickers is the default.

Every van is different — shape, colour, existing graphics, door panels. To get the design right, send us a photo of your van plus the make and model over WhatsApp and we'll work around what you've already got. We'll show you a visual before anything gets cut, so you know exactly what you're getting before it's produced.

Once the stickers are posted, application is your responsibility. Stick them onto a clean, dry, dust-free surface — that's the main thing. Trades On is not responsible for stickers applied to dirty, wet, damaged, or heavily textured surfaces, or for any issues arising after they leave us.

9. Your responsibilities

• Provide accurate information, content, and any materials needed (photos, logo, text) in a timely manner.
• Ensure you hold the rights to any content or assets you supply to us.
• Review and respond to draft or approval requests within a reasonable timeframe. Delays caused by late feedback may affect delivery timelines and are not the responsibility of Trades On.
• Keep your contact and billing details up to date.

10. Search engines & SEO

Every site we build is set up to be found on Google. But we want to be straight with you about what that means in practice.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is the process of making your website visible in search results. It's genuinely complex, and nobody can honestly guarantee a top-page ranking — including us. Anyone who promises you "page one of Google" is making a promise they can't keep.

What we do is build your site the right way from the start: clean code, fast loading, your trade and location clearly written throughout, and the right technical signals for Google to read.

In plain terms, here's what you can realistically expect:

• If someone Googles your business name — "Joe's Brickwork Edinburgh" — there's a very good chance you'll appear on the first page almost immediately after launch.
• If someone Googles a general search — "decorator Edinburgh" or "electrician Leith" — you may appear over time, but this depends on competition, how established your site becomes, and factors outside our control.
• Pairing your site with a free Google Business Profile significantly improves your local visibility. We can advise on this.

We build websites optimised to be found. We do not offer ongoing SEO services or guarantee any particular search ranking.

11. Tax deductibility

Your website subscription is generally treated as a business expense by HMRC. Keep your invoices and check with your accountant to confirm what applies to your situation.

We don't offer tax advice and this is not a formal tax opinion. Speak to your accountant to confirm what applies to your specific situation.

12. Intellectual property

All design work, code, and content created by Trades On remains the property of Trades On until the setup fee has been paid in full, at which point ownership of the final website deliverables transfers to you.

All content on tradeson.co.uk itself — including text, graphics, logos, and images — is protected under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 and may not be reproduced without permission.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• Our total liability for any claim arising from services provided shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the three months preceding the claim.
• We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including loss of revenue, profit, or business opportunity.
• We do not guarantee 100% uptime of third-party hosting or platform services outside our direct control.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraudulent misrepresentation.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify active subscribers of any material changes by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any revisions.
